FIELD OF HISTORIES by Bryony Roberts Studio

Permanent Public Art Project
Winner of National Competition
Glass City Metropark, Toledo, OH
Opened Spring 2024

Station22 role: Daylighting consulting

Transforming a former industrial site in East Toledo, Field of Histories offers a destination for exploring the histories of industry and labor in Toledo through an immersive public art piece that is integrated into the landscape of the Glass City Metropark.

Beginning with an in-depth community engagement process, the project celebrates untold stories of glass and other industries in Toledo as told by individuals who have lived and worked in the city. In a series of community workshops, individuals from Toledo brought objects that they felt are significant to local history and to cultural identity. Field of Histories includes 170 laser-engraved glass orbs that have in their center a 3d image of an object identified by a community member during the workshops. The project links to online catalogue of all of the objects and their stories, as well as an interactive map.
